Kentucky Genealogical Society, Meetings on Cable 10

Frankfort's local access station has been taping our monthly meetings since the first of 1996. They've done a great job, and feedback has been very positive.

In fact, one of our Spring 1997 programs was on Melungeons, featuring author Brent Kennedy, of Tennessee, and of Melungeon ancestry himself. Cable 10 informs us that there were more requests for this program than anything that has ever been shown on our local access station. We believe that it has been shown here at least 15 times, and it's a 2 hour plus presentation!

1996 programs...
March, "Show n Tell" session, where members brought items of interest in their own family history research.
April, Landon Wills gave his talk, "If it Weren't for a Cat named 'Acater', I Wouldn't Be Here!". Landon, gave his talk in a learned, but in his usual folksy and entertaining fashion.
May, Kandie Adkinson gave her talk on Kentucky Land Records, complete with a great slide show. She's given talks all over the country and is a real gem.

Also, one of our KGS Board Members, Doris Gill, has been on Cable 10 with their showing of her 3-part series on Owen County, where Doris lives. Even though Doris is originally from West Virginia, she's jumped right into genealogy for Owen and adjacent counties. She and her husband, Bill, have been longtime supporters of the KGS.

June 1997, Linda Closson told us of the progress being made on the preservation and resurrection of Logan's Fort, at Stanford.

July 1997, Ron Bryant discussed Bryans Station, in Fayette County, one of Kentuckys early settlements.
